If You Are Not Happy Playing Golf When It Is Windy Then Read On
If you are just beginning to play golf then probably the last thing you want to see is bad weather. It is difficult enough after all getting to grips with the basics of the game in fine weather and almost impossible if you are trying to do so in a high wind or in a downpour.
Things begin to change however once you have a little bit of experience and confidence and one thing that I love about the game of golf is that the weather can alter the playing conditions in a matter of moments and present you with a new and different set of challenges. This merely adds to the fun of the game where I am concerned and is something that should be be embraced enthusiastically.
And So, next time you are out on the course do not allow frustration to get the better of you and end your round early but instead carry on and revel in the challenge of your new playing conditions.
Of course playing in a high wind is not going to do anything to lower your score but the trick is to simply recognize this fact and not to let it worry you. There is no need to let the poor weather conditions stress you out and playing golf in adverse weather is simply a matter of adopting a positive attitude of mind.
The key is to expect the wind to do its very best to challenge you at every shot and bring your well hit drive up short or send your approach shot running straight across the green. The wind is going to try to send your ball in all directions except the one direction in which you want it go and you are going to find yourself hooking and slicing to right and left with quite a few lost balls. But this is no more than the inevitability of allowing the weather to join in as a playing partner and it can be fascinating to pitch yourself against the force of Mother Nature.
Another secret to playing golf in adverse weather conditions is to recognize the old saying that the harder you push against something the more it pushes back. Thus, do not attempt to fight Mother Nature but be cunning and learn to use her to your own advantage.
When you are standing on the tee with a strong wind blowing from right to left cross the hole for instance then see how well you are able to judge Mother Nature by gauging exactly how far out to the right you must hit your ball and still get it to hit its target.
It might be nice to potter around the course on a still and sunny day with friends however, more often than not, your day will also turn out to be extremely predictable. Add in a strong wind blowing the leaves around the course and things can suddenly get much more interesting.
